Selection of participants
Participants are selected through a competitive application process. The Advisory Committee will select 60 participants based upon the requirements below.
Interested candidates with training in fields such as medical, radiation, surgical and psycho-oncology, palliative care, pharmacology or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Applications
Applications are available online from 1 November 2007 and will close on 28 February 2008
Only online applications will be considered. No late applications will be accepted.
Applications must be written in English; proficiency in written and spoken English is essential.
Applications must contain the following components:
- A completed online application formAn outline of the clinical research protocol you intend to write during the Workshop -- one page maximum must include the following information:

- Curriculum Vitae (1 page maximum)
- Statement of Participation which articulates why you wish to participate in this Workshop including:
- Your areas of training and date of completed training (if applicable)
- Your research background
- Why this Workshop will assist in design and conduct of the trial outlined in your protocol
- A commitment to participate in the long-term (including participating in Workshop questionnaires and evaluations)
- Your research goals for the next five years
- Request for consideration for a Workshop Fellowship on the grounds of financial hardship and supporting documentation (if required)
- Statement of support from your Supervisor / Head of Department. This statement must include:
- Capacity and length of relationship with applicant
- Assessment of applicant’s performance
- A commitment to enable the candidate to conduct the clinical trial protocol developed at the Workshop (if possible) including confirmation of the feasibility of the trial to be conducted in the existing department
- A commitment to participate in the long-term (including participating in Workshop questionnaires and evaluations)
Selection Criteria
Preference will be given to applications including the following information:
- An original and unique protocol design
- Protocol design which is feasible and focused on a scientific question / concept and clinical primary and secondary endpoints
- Strong relevance to the Asia-Pacific region
- Preliminary commitment from sponsors to provide study agent(s)
- Strong support from relevant departments, institutions and groups to assist in the potential study
Selected Participants
Applicants selected for the workshop will be notified in writing. In preparation for the Workshop, participants must prepare a background literature review for their clinical research concept and attend the Workshop prepared to develop the concept into a complete clinical trial protocol.
