Participant selection
Participant selection
Participants are selected through a competitive application process. The Selection Committee will select up to 60 participants based upon the requirements below.
Interested candidates with training in oncology fields such as medical, radiation, surgical and psycho-oncology, palliative care, pharmacology, nursing, allied health or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
Applications
Applications can be completed online from 7 November 2011 and will close on 27 February 2012
Only online applications will be considered. No late applications will be accepted.
Applications must be written in English. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential for all ACORD participants.
Applications must contain the following components:
- A completed online application form including an outline of the clinical research protocol you intend to write during the Workshop. The outilne should be one page maximum and must include the following:

- Curriculum Vitae (1 page maximum)
- Statement of Participation articulating why you wish to participate in the Workshop including:
- Your areas of training and date of completed training (if applicable)
- Your research background
- How the Workshop will assist in the design and conduct of your protocol
- A commitment to participate in the long-term (including participating in Workshop questionnaires and evaluations)
- Your research goals for the next five years
- Request for a Workshop Fellowship on the grounds of financial hardship and supporting documentation (if applicable)
- Statement of support from your Supervisor / Head of Department. This must include:
- Details of the capacity in which thye know the applicant and the lenght of the professional relationship with the applicant
- Assessment of applicant’s performance
- Commitment to enable the candidate to conduct the clinical trial protocol developed at the Workshop and confirmation of the feasibility of the trial to be conducted in the existing department
- A commitment to participate in the long-term program evaluation
Selection Criteria
Preference will be given to applications that address the following selection criteria:
- An original and unique protocol for a clinical trial
- Protocol design which is feasible and focused on a scientific question / concept and clinical primary and secondary endpoints
- A strong relevance to the Asia-Pacific region
- Preliminary commitment from sponsors to provide study agent(s)
- Strong support from relevant departments, institutions and groups to assist in the potential study
Selected Participants
Applicants selected for the Workshop will be notified in writing. In preparation for the Workshop, participants must prepare a background literature review for their clinical research concept and attend the Workshop prepared to develop the concept into a complete clinical trial protocol.
