Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Sunshine Coast climate?
This area of Australia has one of the highest sunshine readings worldwide. The temperature is generally consistent and comfortable year round, ranging from 28C in January (summer) to 20C in July (winter). The ocean temperatures range from 26C in summer to 19C in winter.

Where is the nearest international airport?
Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the nearest international airport, at approximately 75 minutes from the venue. Ground transport is provided by the Workshop.

Do participants have free time?
The Workshop is highly intensive and participants are encouraged to complete protocol assignments and participate in scheduled social events in the evenings throughout the week. Free time is provided, but many find it necessary to work on their individual protocols during that time.

What should I bring to the Workshop?
A hard and soft copy of your protocol, props or costumes for a presentation at International Night, any prepatory work (such as a literature review) and casual clothes for a six-day stay.

How should I prepare?
At the minimum, a literature review prepared in advance will greatly aid your work at ACORD. Preparing a brief talk overviewing your protocol and background may be useful when introducing yourself to your protocol group.
